 Fourteenth Cart Path Construction
This area of the course gets very wet and prevents cart use.  Even when it is dry, 14 lacks quality turf due to traffic and the front of 15 tee gets very worn down.  Hence, for the reasons of accessibility, G&G chose to install a cart path.  We first, as seen in other presentations on this site, fixed the drainage and then started construction.

This was a tough area to route a path and stay with our beliefs that a path should not ruin the look of a hole.  As you can see we succeeded on 14 keeping it low key.

From the 15th tee side, it was obviously harder to hide.  We initially had it mapped out in a straight line, but this was a jarring view.  Putting some curve in it lessened the impact and made it look less artificial, although not ideal.  The good thing, is that one has to look hard left to see this, the view of 15 is fine.  The fescue will obscure it further.  We also plan to plant some trees in this area in order to help protect the tees on 15 from the tee shots on 14.

The staff finished off the cul de sac at the end.  The 14th hole will be "cart path only" from now on which will improve turf quality greatly.  Players on the 15th will have the option in wet times of following the cart path back to the maintenance driveway, other wise they will be able to exit after turning around on the cul de sac.

In the end, the important part of this project is that we were able to make the course even more accessible for our members who have to take carts.
