Practice Putting Green Reconstruction
This green has been the bane of the golfing experience since green speeds went from 8 to 10 and heights of cut were cut in half. It is a very social area, which makes the green that important, but also led to its demise.
The mix that it was built on was clean soil, but it was easily compacted lead to poor root growth and to weak grass types populating the surface. It was basically a patch of lawn they mowed down back in the day. As you will see in the slide show, alot more goes into building a quality green than just mowing down a patch of lawn.
Because of the timing, this green was done with our staff in house, saving time and about $15,000. It took one week to build it and plant it, although there was some work finishing up the surrounding area for another week after. The staff worked an easy 70 hour week that week, but it was really fun and rewarding.
