Looking at the first few pictures below one can see the state of disrepair that the hockey pond had fallen into.
Boards were falling off, weren't that playable, and very unsightly.
We grabbed our boats and hip waders and removed all the old wood, which wasn't that hard - the wood pulled right off and luckily it floated.
We found a saw mill that sold us thick, rough sawn pine for cost effectiveness and for that rustic look that complimented the hockey expereience.
The skating huts had fallen into dangerous disrepair and we started down the road of renovation because of its close proximity to the wetland.
A winter storm knocked down the structure and we would have to build new. This was our introduction to the Dedham Consrevation Commission, and it was a tough, but good start. This project would pave the way for us to develop a good working relationship.
The finished construction. The boardwalks were replaced this fall, and in the winter of 2007, the second hut will come down. Now all we need is some cold weather.
